O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 starting grid

0

Jimmie Johnson has just one top-10 finish so far in 2018, but will try to get back on track at a race track where he has won seven times before. Johnson will start in ninth position on Sunday at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The seven-time NASCAR champion finished ninth in Fontana three weeks ago but that is his only top-10 finish of 2018. He is a two-time winner of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 but has also won the AAA Texas 500 five times, also held at Texas Motor Speedway.

Johnson’s current 29-race streak without a win is the longest drought of his career.

“Retirement hasn’t been on my mind,” Johnson said two weeks ago in Martinsville. “I want to win. I want to win an eighth championship. It’s really my desire to compete and to compete at a high level. I’m not done yet.”

Kyle Busch is also a two-time winner of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500, and has the pole position on Sunday. Busch has no wins yet in 2018 but has finished second three times and third in the last four races.

Fox Sports 1 will televise Sunday’s race beginning at 2 p.m. ET, with the green flag at approximately 2:10 p.m.; online streaming will be available through Fox Sports Go.
