[Women's Volleyball] Bees bow out in CCAC Tournament quarterfinals
Playing on the road against a team that has lost a total of four matches all season, St. Ambrose had its chance to steal the first set late in a CCAC Tournament quarterfinal at Saint Xavier Tuesday night.
But after rallying from a 5-0 deficit to tie the set at 19-19, the Bees couldn't stop the Cougars and saw their season come to an end in a 25-22, 25-21, 25-17 loss.
With the score at 19-19, Saint Xavier (32-4) won six of the final nine points to get the opener and never looked back.
SAU never held a lead in the second or third sets. The Bees were even in the second at 7-7 before surrendering three straight points. The Cougars built an 18-11 lead and coasted from there.
SXU won the first four points of the third on its way to a 9-3 advantage. Riley Hummert sandwiched two kills around an Emily Moushon kill to trim the score to 9-7. The Cougars immediately ripped off five consecutive points and the Bees never got closer than three points the rest of the way.
