[Holy Cross] Schultheis and Aldrich Named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 461 Division II men's and women's basketball student-athletes have been named 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Junior Tagin Schultheis and senior Brian Aldrich were two Holy Cross student-athletes to acheive this honor.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
Schultheis adds this honor along with being named honorable mention all-conference in the Chicagolands Collegiate Athletic Conference, as well as scoring her 1000th point this season. Aldrich was a two year member of the men's basketball team after finishing a career as one of the top goalkeepers in Holy Cross history.
