[Scots] Taylor, Bowles earn Top Lyon Athlete Honors

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College senior athletics banquet was held in the Maxfield Room of Edwards Commons, Wednesday night to honor all 2016-17 senior student-athletes. In addition, Lyon women's basketball player Elliot Taylor (SR/Cabot, Ark.) received the Winnie Marable Award as the top female athlete, while Lyon football player Michael Bowles (SR/Earle, Ark.) received the Dick Winningham award as the school's top male athlete.

Taylor helped guide the Scots women's basketball team to a 28-6 overall record, as well as their sixth straight NAIA National Tournament appearance during the 2016-17 season. On the season, Taylor averaged 8.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She also finished her career ranked in various categories in program history, including 12th in total points with 1,205, fifth in total rebounds with 637 and fifth in total blocks with 72.
