Looking to make it four straight wins this afternoon

Time to play some baseball! The A’s are on a little win streak and will be looking to extend it today in the middle contest of the series with the Miami Marlins. At 18-15 the team is in second place right now so there’s a chance the team could be within a game of first place by the end of the day.

Taking the hill for the Athletics will be righty Osvaldo Bido. He’s coming off a quality bounce back start last time out and will be hoping to continue his strong start to the season. He’s 2-2 and sporting a bloated 4.31 ERA that hides how well he has been pitching after one meltdown start skewed his bottom line stats. A strong outing today could see him get that ERA below four and earn himself his third win.

The team will lineup behind Bido like this today:

All the starters are in there today and it’s as close to the standard lineup the team has been using all year. Lawrence Butler is back in right field and in his customary leadoff spot as well. The club will be hoping for more from the top half of the lineup after the top four hitters went 0-for-16 last night with just a pair of walks.

They’ll be getting the best Miami has to throw at them today as right-hander Max Meyer will take the ball for the home team. The former 3rd overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, Meyer is finally experiencing success in the majors for the first time as he leads the Marlins with a 3.18 ERA through six starts. He just got lit up for five runs in four frames in his previous appearance so he’s limping into this one on a down note.

Miami’s lineup behind their young ace looks like this:

Let’s go A’s!
