Athletics vs Brewers Spring Training Thread

Jeffrey Springs gets the call

The Athletics take on the Milwaukee Brewers today at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa. With only two spring training games remaining after today, this will be the final tune up for Jeffrey Springs, one of the team’s big trade acquisitions this off-season. Springs is 1-2 over five starts and fourteen innings with a 5.02 ERA and twelve strikeouts. He missed most of the 2024 season recovering from Tommy John surgery and then elbow fatigue. The southpaw is slotted to be the number two starter behind yesterday’s hurler Luis Severino.

Springs will match-up against journeyman lefty Jose Quintana. The Brewers signed the former free agent on March 5, 2025, and he has only pitched two innings so far this Spring. Last year he went 10-10 with the New York Mets in 31 starts.
