Jerry Lorenzo and Adidas Introduce the Fear of God Athletics Trainer Launching This Week
After introducing their first performance basketball sneaker in December, Jerry Lorenzo and Adidas are evolving their partnership with yet another debut: the initial lifestyle trainer from the Fear of God Athletics line.
Dubbed the Adidas Fear of God Athletics Trainer, the new silhouette will receive an official launch on Friday in two colors. Seen here in its “Night Brown/Sesame” iteration, the sneaker will also come in a fully “Sesame” colorway. According to Adidas, the Fear of God Athletics Trainer is designed to be a “modernized take on luxury performance footwear.” This is achieved through a sporty yet wearable cut in premium materials.
The highlight material found on the Adidas Fear of God Athletics Trainer is its hairy brown suede quarter panels, which the brand says are intended to give the shoe a vintage look and feel. Premium full-grain leather is used beneath the support strap for a soft hand feel, while the sesame suede toe box is accentuated with a wavy deco stitch pattern.
Underfoot, cushioning is provided by Adidas’ Lightstrike foam, which is enclosed in a cream-colored, semi-translucent rubber outsole. And in addition to traditional shoelaces which can be adjusted with a toggle, the shoe features elastic on the heel for ease of entry. The look is finished with a braided textured rubber design at the heel.
Lorenzo, who is the founder of Fear of God, began his partnership with Adidas in 2020. After much anticipation, a first look at the partnership with Adidas came during the Fear of God’s eighth collection showing at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in April 2023. The first footwear release, the Adidas Fear of God Athletics 1 Basketball, was released in December ’23.
The Adidas Fear of God Athletics Trainer launches Friday, Jan 31. The “Night Brown/Sesame” pair will be available from adidas.com, the Confirmed app and select Adidas stores worldwide. Meanwhile, the “Sesame” style is exclusive to fearofgod.com. Retail pricing is set at $250.
