Monarch High principal and others are reassigned due to athletics issue

The principal of Monarch High in Coconut Creek and several other staff members are under investigation over allegations related to “improper student participation in sports,” the Broward school district said Monday.

Principal James Cecil and other unnamed staffers have been reassigned to non-school sites, a statement from district spokesman John Sullivan said.

“Although we cannot comment further, we will continue to follow state law and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation,” Sullivan said in a statement. “We are committed to providing all our students with a safe and inclusive learning environment.”
