Morning Briefing: Manfred Believes Athletics Will Move To Las Vegas

The biggest news from Saturday was commissioner Rob Manfred explaining that he believes the Oakland Athletics will move to Las Vegas in the future.

Also, Saturday night, the Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 in Game 2 of the World Series. It is now tied one game a piece.

The World Series will continue on Monday in Philadelphia with Game 3.

According to The New York Post, the Mets are going to be “slightly” moving in the right-center-field fence to make room for a fan-experience attraction.

According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Nolan Arenado told the Cardinals that he is opting in to the remainder of his five-year contract.

Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred told Mad Dog Unleashed that he is no longer optimistic that the Oakland Athletics will remain in Oakland and that he believes they will move to Las Vegas. Nightengale also said he believes the Rays will stay in Tampa, but in a new ballpark.

Scott Merkin of MLB.com discussed the Chicago White Sox’s continued search for their next manager. Per MLB.com, they have ruled out bench coach Joe Espada.
