0 54

WICHITA, Kan. – The student-athlete experience at Friends University is about to get even more enticing, as the Athletic Department is teaming up with Supplement World, Wichita to provide a refueling station that will be located in the new weight room inside the Garvey Center. It will give student-athletes a fresh spot to recharge and replenish following workouts.

"We are grateful for the partnership with Supplement World," said Dr. Rob Ramseyer, Friends University Associate VP of Athletics.  "We are able to provide a resource for our student-athletes to stay healthy and strong.  It is another way that we are able to provide support for their experience as a student-athlete.  We are working to give an unparalleled experience for our student-athletes where they are provided support to stay healthy and excel in the classroom and in competition."

Amino acids will be the sole supplement provided and are known to aid muscle development and strength while lessening fatigue following workouts. They're also believed to improve workout performance while minimizing soreness and boosting recovery following exercises.

"We're very grateful to Supplement World because our student-athletes at Friends University deserve the best and this is one more avenue in which we can help them achieve success," said Joe Belden, Friends University Assistant AD of Athletic Performance. "The Onnx brand not only supplies our athletes with the BCAAs important for protein synthesis but also with a complete electrolyte profile. Our athletes should recover faster, have more energy, feel stronger and in turn, progress and perform at a higher level."

Supplement World will also be coming to campus to give student-athletes the opportunity to purchase additional supplements that are approved by the strength & conditioning staff to ensure they are NCAA and USAPL compliant.

"Some things just make sense, even in the athletic world," said Dale Faber, Friends University AD of Development who played an integral role in facilitating the refueling station.

"With the total upgrade to a new weight room and workout area, the question was posed on what else we can do to help our athletes and our teams become and stay successful. Rob presented the question of can we make a refueling station work? The answer is a resounding yes because of Supplement World Co-owner Jeff McAnarney teaming with Joe (Belden). Joe and Jeff and their staffs speak the same language. We strive daily to open new avenues for our teams to grow and be successful. This partnership with Supplement World is a big-time victory for our department as we strive for excellence daily."

All products will be approved by the NCAA and USA Powerlifting.

"Supplement World is extremely excited to partner up with Friends University," said McAnarney, "We are confident that the new refueling station will add much-needed benefits and recovery for all Friends athletes!"

Friends supporters can click HERE to make a donation for the athletic refueling station. A $30 donation pays for a team's month of supplements, while a $700 donation covers a month of supplements for all student-athletes.
