Mike Matheny gets into more detail on Jesse Hahn’s injury with Anne Rogers.

“He said he felt while he was in the ‘pen, been battling through a little bit,” Matheny said. “There’s always that fine line. Every one of these guys, they walk in here each day, teetering on, ‘Whether what I feel right now is major, is it just what I got to go through and what I have to pitch through, what I have to play through?’ … Fortunately, [Hahn] was honest with us last night after the game. We had a chance to get a look at it. The doctors saw some things that we needed to take a little pause.”

Hunter Dozier sat out again on Monday due to a thumb injury, writes Lynn Worthy.

“We had a couple long talks yesterday,” Matheny said. “He feels good. It’s just something that keeps flaring up a little bit, but it seems to be gone by the next time he gets up to bat. It’s going to be some time when it does flare and we’re going to have to give it a little bit more of a rest. But the trainers are very confident this is something we can get ahead of.”

He also wrote about Kyle Zimmer picking up his first save on Sunday.

“Pretty special,” Matheny said of Zimmer’s first save. “You know, he came in and used his secondary pitches too. Was behind in the count, not afraid to throw the slider backdoor. Used the curveball. I thought he kept everybody off-balance. He threw strikes. To be able to throw strikes with more than just your fastball is important in a situation like that.”

An update on Adalberto Mondesi.
