Bonn Capitals, Heidenheim Heidekoepfe reach German Baseball Finals

The Bonn Capitals and Heidenheim Heideköpfe have reached the finals of the German Baseball-Bundesliga. Bonn defeated the Solingen Alligators in five games during the semi-finals, winning the decisive fifth matchup 10-5 on Sunday. Heidenheim swept the Mainz Athletics in three games in the other semi-final.

Bonn and Heidenheim were only in third place in their respective divisions after the regular season, while Solingen and Mainz claimed first place in the north and the south. However in the playoffs Bonn and Heidenheim found their rhythm and now return for a rematch of last year’s five-game thriller in the finals.

Games one and two will be played on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, 2019 in Heidenheim, games three and four in Bonn on August 3 and 4. A potential game five would take place on August 17 following the U23 European Championship.
