The Prefontaine Classic, an IAAF Diamond League athletics meeting, relocated to Stanford’s Cobb Track & Angell Field from Eugene, Oregon’s Hayward Field due to renovations, for this year only.

Armand Duplantis, the 19-year-old pole vault sensation, cleared 19-5 1/2 to beat a field that included 20-foot vaulter Renaud Lavillenie of France. Darlan Romani upset Olympic champion Ryan Crouser and won the men’s shot put with 22.61m (74-2¼ ). Two-time Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya won the women’s 800 in 1:55.70, breaking the meet record she set last year of 1:55.92.
