[Football] From the ground up, Drinkall leads Wesleyan on historical run

Kansas Wesleyan football coach Matt Drinkall shared a moment with his boss just before the opening kickoff between the Coyotes and Dickinson State last Saturday at Graves Family Sports Complex.

"I grabbed Mike Hermann (KWU's director of athletics) and said 'look in these stands,'" Drinkall said, pointing to the crowd of over 1,600. '"It didn't used to be like this. Now it's fun.'"

The brief exchange captured the essence and magic of what has occurred at Wesleyan this fall.

The No. 6-ranked Coyotes are unbeaten, having won all 13 of their games. They won their first Kansas Conference championship since 2002, played their first NAIA Football Championship Series home game, won their first NAIA playoff game and will be the first KCAC team to play in the national semifinals when they take on Benedictine at 1 p.m. this Saturday at GFSC.
