[HSSU Hornets] Harris-Stowe State University Welcomes Dorianne Johnson as New Athletic Director

ST. LOUIS Harris-Stowe State University (HSSU) is pleased to welcome Dorianne Johnson as its new Athletic Director. Johnson brings over 14 years of NCAA Division 1 coaching experience and is celebrated for her dedication to athletes both inside and outside of the classroom.   

As Athletic Director, Johnson will be tasked with the direction and administration of the athletics department, including overseeing the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, coaches of nine NAIA sports, a certified athletics trainer, a Sports Information Director, and other athletics personnel. Additionally, Johnson will be in charge of recruitment/retention plans for student athletes and representing the athletics department in the community.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dorianne Johnson as our new Athletic Director," said Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack, President of Harris-Stowe State University. "She embodies everything we stand for as a university: hard work, integrity, dedication and an unwavering support of our students. She's a great addition and we are lucky to have her as part of the Hornets family."

Johnson brings an impressive resume to Harris-Stowe State University Athletics. Prior to joining HSSU, she served as Athletic Director for Wilberforce University, where she is revered for revitalizing the athletics department brand, mission, vision and golf programs. Before that, Johnson served as Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator at Alcorn State University. Her responsibilities including acting as a Title XI and Gender Equity Liaison, sports administrator and Student Athlete Advisory Committee liaison.

"I am honored to join Harris-Stowe State University as the new Athletic Director," said Dorianne Johnson. "As a former collegiate athlete, I understand the life balance student athletes have to maintain to succeed."

The Harris-Stowe State University Hornets compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as a member of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) in men's baseball, basketball, track & field and soccer; and women's basketball, track & field, soccer, softball and volleyball.
