Game Thread #155: Oakland Athletics vs. Minnesota Twins

0 6

With the Magic Number already at 2, the A’s can lower to a single game with a win

As the A’s continue the inexorable march to season’s end, the prize they have been playing for is now tantalizingly within reach; with the Rays’ loss earlier today, the A’s Magic Number stands at two. They can’t clinch tonight, but they can lower the number to a single game, and set the table for a playoff-clinching spot tomorrow, in what will be the final regular season game played at the Coliseum. Of course, we hope to be back here soon.

Tonight’s game will star Mike Fiers against Chase De Jong. All eyes in the Coliseum will be on Khris Davis, after he hit his Major League leading 44th and 45th home runs last night.

It’s an exciting time, and so hard to believe that this magical season will soon be at a close; that our daily entertainment is coming to an end. It’s been years since I have felt this kind of “must watch” feeling from the A’s—2002, as close as I can pinpoint—and it’s nice to know that nearly two decades later, the A’s still feel as magical now as they did then.

Here are your lineups:
