[WHAC] WHAC Named Five-Star Conference

0 2

KANSAS CITY - (NAIA Release) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) was one of 16 conferences named a Five-Star Conference by the NAIA. Each year, NAIA schools use the Champions of Character scorecard to measure the pursuit of character-driven athletics. The league earned the status for the eighth consecutive year by meeting the three requirements: establishing a Champions of Character Conference Committee, having a conduct in competition oversight committee, and having at least 60% of its member institutions receive the NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award.

Nine WHAC members were named Five-Star Institutions for a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and each earned points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition, and character promotion. Schools scoring a minimum of 60 out of 100 points earn the Five-Star Institution Award. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.

Institutions can be recognized as Champions of Character Five-Star Institutions at three different levels: Gold (90-100 points), Silver (75-89 points) and Bronze (60-74 points). The WHAC had three schools finish with Gold status.

Lawrence Tech led the conference scoring a perfect 100 points - one of 12 schools to do so. Indiana Tech, Madonna, and Rochester joined LTU as Gold Winner.
