[Georgetown] Tigers celebrate 2017-18 with GC Awards
Georgetown College athletics held its 13th annual GC Awards this past Thursday night. The event was streamed live on the GCAthletics Facebook page and is still there for viewing if anyone missed it. The year has been another one of chasing titles as veterans led and new youthful Tigers began to put their stamps on programs as well. First, the coaching staff and athletic administration as well as President Dr. M. Dwaine Greene and all of the faculty want to give a big round of applause for the achievements inside the classroom. Full numbers are not in yet as all spring sports have not completed the announcement of honors, but as it stands it appears more than 80 athletes will receive an all-conference all-academic recognition this year – earning a 3.25 grade point average. This is only an award for those of sophomore standing or higher, and thus to truly assess what was really done, we also want to include that nearly 240 students from the fall semester received the AD Honor Roll which is for freshmen and above with at least 12 credit hours making at least a 3.25.
