[Men's Volleyball] Men's Volleyball Seeded 8th in Pool A at Nationals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Championship Schedule | Bracket) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has officially announced the 2018 Men's Volleyball National Invitational qualifiers. The eight-team field will begin play on April 17 at the final site in Des Moines, Iowa.

Coming off their thrilling conference tournament win in three sets on Saturday over Warner University (Fla.), SAU, 19-6, has earned the automatic bid to the National Tournament where they will enter as the #8 seed in Pool A. The Knights, who are also receiving 19 votes in the top 10 Poll, will begin their tournament with a 2:00 PM EST match against #1 seed Missouri Baptist (22-1) on Tuesday, April 17.

The Knights will then take to the court on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:00 AM against #4 seed Briar Cliff University (IA) (15-4) and finish up pool play on Thursday vs. #5 seed Lourdes University (OH) (21-6) at 11:00 AM. MBU and Lourdes each won their conference tournament to qualify while BCU was an at-large selection.

The other Pool "B" action includes #2 seed and host Grand View (Iowa), #3 seed Ottawa (KS) (21-7), #6 seed Benedictine (AZ) (17-6) and #7 seed Cardinal Stritch (WI) (24-7).

This year's field includes five automatic bids (including the host bid) and three at-large selections. The automatic berths are determined by conference/group tournament winners and host bid claimed by Grand View (19-4). The remaining at-large bids were determined by the final regular season Men's Volleyball Coaches' Top 10 Poll announced Sunday. That Top 10 Poll can be viewed HERE.

Action inside the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center will begin with three days of pool play starting on April 17 and ending April 19. The semifinals will take place on April 20 and the championship on April 21.
