Mr. Parks intent is to find ways to help current and future student-athletes find success in the classroom and in competition.

Mr. Parks dissertation title is: Exploring the differences in African American male student-athletes who receive athletic scholarships and earn degrees and those who do not

The hope is the dissertation will help Trevecca athletics better understand how to assist African American athletes at Trevecca (as well as other schools) increase their graduation success rate.

Mr. Parks vision is to work with athletic administrations in the future, using this project as a launching point to help athletes better manage life as a college athlete, in particular, African American male student-athletes.

Myron Parks: Snapshot of basic premise of study:

I am presently working with Gregory Ruff (doctoral colleague) and Mr. Elliott to find the sixty former student-athletes to participate in my survey. The survey takes less than five minutes to take. I know your time is extremely limited and valuable, but it is my hope you will allow me to use your experience to better understand how to help Trevecca and other colleges become aware of ways they can improve the graduation rates of current and future student-athletes, in particular, African American males.

If you know of other former African American male student-athletes, I would appreciate your assistance in reaching out to them as well.
