U of Illinois athletics announces $300M fundraising goal
URBANA, Ill. (AP) — The University of Illinois athletic department says it's set the goal of raising $300 million as part of the school's "With Illinois" university-wide fundraising initiative.
The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics on Monday said that of that money it has earmarked $200 million for capital projects, $70 million for scholarships and $30 million for student-athlete enhancement efforts.
The previously announced $79.2 million football performance center is part of the $200 million in capital projects. The 112,000-square-foot center is scheduled to open in 2019 and have space for offices, sports medicine, locker rooms and other facilities.
