Victoria Bowmen Meeting Minutes March 19, 2026

Attendance:

Al Wills, Helena Myllyniemi, Andrew Engelhardt, Sofija Jewell, Rowan Kew, Curtis Hobson, Doug Linton, Brian Marusaik, Jarrod Ball, Vesa Myllyniemi

1. CALL TO ORDER

• The meeting was called to order by the President at 6:30pm

2. CHAIRMAN’S OPENING REMARKS

• The President welcomed everyone to the meeting, thanked them for their attendance, and read an Indigenous land acknowledgement.

3. CORRESPONDENCE

• Brad Barclay sent a letter to SCP admin regarding how to handle archery class participants who miss the first few classes

4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

• Last Board meeting minutes (AGM) posted on website since Feb , 2026 – No objections – carried

5. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA WITH NEW BUSINESS BEING LEFT OPEN

6. REPORTS

• President
  • Club received a grant from ViaSport and the Province of British Columbia to help support the upcoming BC Indoor Championships.

• Treasurer:
  • Club finances, investments, and accounts are all in good shape. Some funds owing from SCP.

• Membership Director:
  • Still people joining, some coming from classes.

• Standing Committees – 2026 BC Indoor Championships:
  • Everything ready for tournament. Sofia, Jarrod, Greg still busy with preparing, finalizing schedule for set up/load out etc. Registration is full at 190, plus 18 archers on waitlist. Merchandise/apparel/swag in production. Call for more volunteers to help out being sent.

7. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

• None

8. NEW BUSINESS

• Club Facebook page discussed. Curtis Hobson looking into expanding page’s capabilities and purpose – adding buy & sell section, allowing members to post & discuss etc. Curtis will moderate, make sure only members post, comment etc.
• April 12 JOP Regional Championships – club has decided Cowichan Bowmen should host as this is one week after BC Indoors
• Outdoor Shooting at SVIR – Wed evening shoots starting up soon, announcement to come
• 40cm Target auction – Al put a bid in to Archery Canada auction for set of 500 targets
• RSOs – more needed. Call out in newsletter to encourage people to get certified
• Club hosting Instructor of Beginner Archer coaching clinic over 3 evening sessions – Apr. 28, May 12, and May 26 from 7:30-9:30pm at Saanich Commonwealth Place.
• Website – need a few more people to assist with posting info – Andrew Engelhardt and Jennifer Eliason have offered to help
• Butt centres update –  Vesa is in process of gradually replacing cores of worn out butts
