Walvis Bay, Namibia – July 26, 2025

The curtain has come down on the 2025 Africa Genesis Archery (AGA) Federation World Tournament in Walvis Bay, Namibia, after four intense days of high-stakes competition. Zimbabwe’s delegation has much to celebrate, ending the tournament with nine medals and several individual and team accomplishments—marking one of their strongest showings to date.

The Zimbabwe National Team, although missing out on team medals, demonstrated consistency and growth. Ivy-Blu Nice claimed a silver medal in the Individual 3D event, while Savanna Hunter earned two bronze medals—one in the National 3D Individual event and another in the Development Girls’ 3D Individual, showcasing her versatility and resilience across formats.

The Development Team delivered an exceptional performance, bringing home three team bronze medals: in 3D, Bull’s Eye, and the Combined 3D & Bull’s Eye team event—a testament to depth and collaboration among the squad.

At the heart of Zimbabwe’s medal haul was Nyasha Chiduma, who emerged as the standout athlete in the Development division. She secured two gold medals: one for Best Female in Development 3D Individual, and another for Best Female in the Combined 3D & Bull’s Eye categories, confirming her status as one of the continent’s rising stars.

12-year-old Kupa Chiura, a seventh grader, was the youngest competitor at the tournament and proudly featured in Zimbabwe’s Development Team. His inclusion reflects the programme’s commitment to early talent development.

Zimbabwe’s impact was felt beyond medals. Andrew Manning once again earned selection to the elite Africa Federation Team, which narrowly defeated Canada in an invitational match. Manning improved his previous ranking, finishing as the 8th best archer overall. Ivy-Blu Nice, meanwhile, rejoined the Federation Team for the second time in her career, finishing at 16th overall—another proud moment for the nation.

15-year-old Wiseman Makore, born near Masvingo and now based in Marondera, continued to impress. Having taken up archery only recently, his rapid progression to national selection underscores the value of accessible and inclusive development pathways.

Zimbabwe’s results in Walvis Bay exceeded expectations and showed signs of a maturing national programme. With a continued emphasis on grassroots growth, school outreach, and competitive training, the AGA Zimbabwe (AGA ZW) federation is building a solid foundation for international success.

Since joining the AGA Federation in 2014, Zimbabwe has consistently produced medalists and strong teams. With continued investment in training and partnerships, the archers of today are laying the groundwork for future Olympians.
