[Archery] Tigers start 2021 in Collegiate Regionals

0 16

Georgetown College archery is preparing for competition this season under third-year head coach Ed McKinney. He took over the team in December 2019 under student life and in 2021 they are back under the athletic umbrella.

"I've lived in the area since 1985. I know the tradition rich history of Tiger athletics," McKinney said. "I was excited and am focused to do the same for this archery program."

McKinney has been involved in starting various successful archery programs in the central Kentucky area as the sport has been growing the past 10 years. His philosophy and approach to coaching are the core of why he feels these programs flourish during and even after his tenure.

"My philosophy is simple: teach and demonstrate what it takes to be successful on and off the course," McKinney said. "This involves understanding the four parts that define our club culture – character, preparation, grit and goal setting. These drive our approach to practices, competitions, academics and life in general."
