Mit einem Sieg des Teams Standard Rock ging die 41. Auflage des Snow Polo World Cup am vergangenen Wochenende auf dem zugefrorenen St. Moritzer See zu Ende.

The 41st Snow Polo World Cup concluded last weekend on the frozen Lake St. Moritz with a victory for Team Standard Rock.

Insgesamt 26.000 Zuschauen hatten am Snow Polo-Wochenende für rappelvolle Tribünen und einen völlig ausverkauften See gesorgt – und es mag der Exklusivität von Location und Sport geschuldet sein, dass alleine 40 Privatjets Gäste zum Snow Polo World Cup brachten. St. Moritz betont übrigens, dass die Idee, Polo auf Schnee zu spielen, dort entstanden ist, auch ist der St. Moritzer World Cup das weltweit einzige High Goal-Poloturnier auf Schnee.

Im Finale am Sonntag trafen die Teams Standard Rock und Flexjet aufeinander. Standard Rock, von vielen im Vorfeld als Favoriten-Team angesehen, schickte die Spieler Team-Captain Philipp Müller (CH / Handicap 0), Max Charlton (ENG / +6), Raul Laplacette (ARG / +6) und Nacho Gonzales (ENG / +4) in die vier Chukker, für Flexjet traten Team-Captain Joaquin Castellvi (ESP / 0), Pelayo Berazadi (ESP / +5), David Stirling (URU mit dem High Goal Handicap +8) und Tito Gaudenzi (CH/USA / +2) an.

Durch ein Penalty und das entscheidende Tor, welches Raul Laplacette erzielen konnte, wurde Standard Rock seiner Rolle gerecht und holte sich den World Cup-Sieg.
