Few area football recruits have risen faster of late than Denbigh High wide receiver/defensive back Jyran Evans. A reserve on the super-talented 2024 Class 5 state championship team at Maury, Evans, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior, transferred to Denbigh last season and showcased his talents. In addition to a Hampton Roads-best 133 tackles (16 for loss), Evans caught 45 passes for 652 yards and four touchdowns in helping the Patriots to a 5-5 regular season.
