Gantoise men the team to catch in Belgium

After a 112-day hiatus, the second and decisive leg of the Belgian men’s Carlsberg 0.0. Hockey League kicks off on Sunday with Gantoise going in search of a fourth successive title.

The second half of the season opens with three matches, after which all teams will have played 13 matches. Then, a nine-match sprint begins towards the end of the regular season with

The highlight of the weekend is the match between the second- and third-placed teams in the standings: Braxgata (26 points) and Orée (25 points). The winner of that match will be in the slipstream of leaders Gantoise (30 points).

Gantoise and Orée are currently the only teams with only one defeat: Orée lost 1-0 to Gantoise on September 21st, and the East Flemish side lost a week earlier at home to Watducks: 2-4.

Behind the leading trio, Watducks (24 points), Herakles (22 points) and Léopold (22 points) also remain firmly in contention for a playoff spot.

The other fixtures see Léo play a derby match against Uccle on Sunday with the former hoping a win there will lift them back into the top four. Dragons take on basement side Pingouin in the other game.

For Gantoise, they return a week later where they will welcome back Jaime Carr, Sean Murray (Ireland), Jacek Kurowski (Poland) and Etienne Tynevez (France) who are currently closing in on World Cup tickets with their respective countries.
