Telgenkamp makes big move to Amsterdam
Olympic gold medalist Duco Telgenkamp will switch from SV Kampong to AH&BC Amsterdam next season in what is likely to be one of the biggest transfers of 2026.
He will formally move in the summer after four seasons in which he has scored 62 times in the Dutch Hoofdklasse, becoming one of the most lethal forwards in the competition as well as helping the Netherlands with the EuroHockey Championship and Paris gold.
“Duco is a player with exceptional qualities ,” says Joris Albers, Tophockey AH&BC. “His speed, technique, and extreme focus make him one of the most dangerous attackers in the world.
“But just as importantly, Duco fits perfectly with Amsterdam’s vision. We want to play attractive, attacking hockey at the highest level; hockey that delights the audience and keeps the men’s first team consistently competing for trophies. The fact that a player of his calibre has chosen to join Amsterdam not only makes us proud but also underscores our ambition. “
With his move to Amsterdam, Telgenkamp has consciously chosen a new environment: “I’m really looking forward to my time at Amsterdam, ” says Telgenkamp.
“AH&BC is a club with a tremendous history, a top-level sports culture, and an energy that I’m eager to be a part of. I hope to continue to grow here as a player and as a person. Besides that, the main goal is, of course, to compete for trophies.”
He added on social media: “I look back on my time at Kampong with great gratitude. We shared some wonderful moments together, and I learned an incredible amount here, both on and off the pitch.
“My dream back then was to play for the Dutch national team and for Kampong. I’m incredibly proud that I was able to join Kampong’s first team four seasons ago and play at the Klapperboom stadium.
“What makes my time at Kampong especially special is the people! Teammates, staff, and everyone around the team. Working hard together, building, and going above and beyond for each other is something that’s ingrained in this club and something I’ll always carry with me.
“I want to thank all these people for this time, because they invested in me to become a better player and person and made me feel at home every second.
“Finally, I’d like to emphasise that we still have an important half of the season ahead of us. I’m still incredibly motivated to win prizes with this great team and will do everything I can to finish this period as strong as possible together!”
