Belgian star van Dessel signs for Bloemendaal

Bloemendaal have already made a major addition to their 2025/26 panel with the signing of Belgian star Arno van Dessel.

The 21-year-old midfielder joins from Herakles on a multi-year contract, arriving having already picked up a number of awards and been a part of the Red Lions since 2021.

He was named the Talent of the Year in Belgium in 2022 and, internationally, has won silver in the 2022 Pro League, bronze at the 2023 EuroHockey Championship, played at the 2024 Olympics and was shortlisted for the FIH ‘Rising Star’.

“The identity of the club suits me perfectly,” van Dessel says of the move. “The way of playing, the atmosphere and the drive to always go for the highest possible appeal to me enormously. I look forward to playing great matches here as a team and celebrating successes.”

Michiel Hilders, Bloemendaal’s board member for top hockey, is pleased with the arrival, saying: “He is a player with enormous drive and a winning mentality. We look forward to seeing him in action at Bloemendaal!”
