Carr and Boccard help Tigers win HIL title
Gantoise’s Jaime Carr and Royal Léopold’s Gauthier Boccard were part of the Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers who defeated Hyderabad Toofans 4-3 in the Hockey India League final.
As such, both will be hoping it forms part of a innovative double this season as they look forward to the Euro Hockey League FINAL8 at Easter in Den Bosch.
The victory owed a lot to Jugraj Singh’s hat trick along with the clinching goal from Sam Lane to secure the title for the Tigers.
Carr made a number of key saves in the closing minutes to ensure his side stayed 4-3 ahead and he was fittingly central to the raising of the trophy.
For the Toofans, they featured Carr’s Gantoise team mate Maico Casella and Bloemendaal’s Zach Wallace.
On the women’s side, SCHC’s Yibbi Jansen was in the Odisha Warriors team who won the inaugural season of the competition as they got the better of JSW Soorma 2-1 in the final.
Jansen shared the top scorer spot with Den Bosch’s Charlotte Englebert (JSW Soorma) with five goals to her name.
