Mannheim shine in German indoor final
Mannheimer HC retained the German women’s indoor title at the Volvo ERG FINAL4 in Frankfurt, getting the best of Berliner HC 3-2.
Sonja Zimmerman put in a star performance to be named the tournament’s MVP and she was the one to set them on their way with the first goal in the second minute.
Charlotte Hendrix doubled the lead by half-time and they looked even more comfortable when Carolin Seidel’s head-high shot found the top corner in the 33rd minute.
But the Eastern champions fought back strong and were back in contention via Pahila Arnold’s corner and Philine Drumm’s shot cut the gap to the minimum in the closing phases. But MHC held on for a third title, adding to their success in 2016 and 2024.
Mannheim now have a busy few months ahead with the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup in Siauliai, Lithuania on the horizon as well as their Euro Hockey League showdown with MSC Sumchanka in Den Bosch on April 16.
