Another Carrion UBO World Championship Extravaganza In Chile
Chilean Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (South America) Welterweight champion Marcial “Chay” Carrion continues to follow the blueprint of twin-brother Patricio, the current UBO world Super Lightweight champion.
Patricio Carrion won UBO Continental honours at Super Lightweight in August of 2025, while Marcial followed suit, at Welterweight, last November. Patricio went to the next level, winning the UBO world title this past February.
And now, on June 6 at the Arena Cavancha in his home-town Iquique, Marcial (21-1, 6 KOs) will face undefeated Argentinian Tomas “El Ciclon” Irusta (9-0-2, 3 KOs) for the vacant UBO world Welterweight title.
While it has been done several times, although not many, with other sanctioning bodies, it will be the first time twins hold UBO world titles at the same time, or at all, should Carrion be successful.
Fuelled by both the motivation and pressure of doing what his brother has already done, Carrion will be at the top of his game for what is the biggest night of his professional career.
Irusta is the underdog, but he too aims to make a bit of history as he will be the first from his country to be UBO world champion if he wins.
As is always the case when the Carrion twins fight at the Arena Cavancha, a big crowd is expected for the show promoted by TC2 Boxing.
