José Benavidez Sr. – “Everyone knows Canelo is finished”
By Hesiquio Balderas
In a blunt assessment of the current boxing landscape, José Benavidez Sr. has declared that the reign of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez at the top of the sport has reached its expiration date. Speaking on the future of his son, David Benavidez, the veteran trainer emphasized that the physical toll of a long career has finally caught up with the Mexican superstar.
“Everyone knows Canelo is finished,” Benavidez Sr. stated. “We saw how Terence Crawford beat him with ease. His body is no longer responding.”
“Fear is fear… a fighter knows who he can beat and who he can’t. He knows he has a very big challenge with David Benavidez,” Benavidez Sr. added.
“That fight is not going to happen. But if it does happen, I guarantee you that David will destroy him in three rounds. Canelo knows he can’t handle David.”
“Canelo’s era is ending, and the era of the Mexican Monster, David Benavidez, is beginning. I consider him the face of Mexican boxing now.”
“I truly recommend Canelo think about it, because the Monster will hurt and destroy him inside three rounds. He will take a savage beating.”
“There are no secrets to reaching the top; sacrifice, perseverance, and hard work are what got us to where we are,” concluded José Benavidez Sr.
