“World Championship Showdown – The Decision” – Roman Fress has a new opponent

Now things are different for WBO number 1 cruiserweight Roman Fress (GER), the WBO Inter-Continental Champion. The world title will now be contested in a special rematch against his new opponent, Armend Xhoxhaj, WBO Europe Champion and current WBO #10.

The “World Championship Showdown – The Decision” will take place at the Magdeburg Exhibition Center on May 30, 2026. Roman Fress is fighting to maintain his WBO number 1 ranking and thus secure the mandatory challenge right against the current WBO world champion in an upcoming WBO world title fight. Following last night’s boxing match in Las Vegas, that title no longer belongs to Mexican Gilberto Ramirez, but to David Benavidez of the USA after his knockout victory in the sixth round!

Roman Fress and Armend Xhoxhaj already faced each other once before, in May 2022, at the Magdeburg open-air stage. Xhoxhaj inflicted Fress’s only defeat to date. This rematch is therefore about “honor,” and anyone who knows the combative and particularly determined WBO Europe Champion Armend Xhoxhaj knows that the Kosovar, who lives in Nuremberg, has exactly the same ambitions. A very special WBO duel is therefore on the cards!
