Felix Sturm Back For “One Last Dance”

Former multiple world champion Felix Sturm, now 47 years old, will come back for the last time on July 11 at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart for what is billed as “One Last Dance.”

Sturm, real name Adnan Ćatić and of Bosnian descent, was a very good amateur. He turned pro with Universum Box-Promotion during its golden days in 2001, won the WBO title in 2003, and had his big break when he lost a controversial decision to an out-of-shape Oscar De La Hoya in Las Vegas in 2004.

In Germany, Sturm was a big star. He won, lost, and regained the WBA title, then left Universum in 2009. He returned in 2010 with Sturm Box-Promotion, but his best days were behind him, with many controversial decisions going his way—and some against him.

In 2016, it all seemed to come to an end with charges of doping and tax evasion. Sturm was eventually sentenced and served time.

He made a comeback in 2020 that has continued over the past few years, and he is 5–1 since then—but on July 11, it’s all over.
