Jerusalem Arrives Early In Johannesburg Ahead Of May 16 Title Defense
WBC World Minimumweight Champion Melvin Jerusalem of Zip Sanman Boxing touched down in Johannesburg, South Africa, three weeks ahead of his scheduled title defense against Siyakholwa Kuse on May 16. The early arrival is aimed at helping him acclimate to the altitude and adjust to the environment before the showdown.
Jerusalem is already in the city with his team, joined by head trainer Michael Domingo and assistant trainer Dario Luga, as he begins his intensive training camp.
Statement from Jerusalem:
“It’s good to be here three weeks early so I have time to adjust to the altitude, weather, time difference, and surroundings. I’m prepared to do better than in our first fight and will make sure to bring my belt back home to the Philippines.”
Jerusalem and Kuse battled in Manila on October 29, with Jerusalem winning by close decision to retain the title.
