Veteran’s Night At Stockholm Fight Night
By Per-Åke Persson
Stockholm Fight Night goes ahead at the Eriksdalshallen in Stockholm on May 9, beginning with an international Olympic boxing event between Sweden and Ireland, and then continuing in the evening with professional boxing headlined by some well-known veterans who may or may not have something left in the tank.
50-year-old former WBC super welterweight champion Mikaela Lauren (33-8-1) is back in action for what might be another farewell fight, but with Ms. Lauren, one just doesn’t know. Mikaela faces Lithuanian Vaida Masiokaite, whose record (11-30-6) is better than it looks. The fight is scheduled at welterweight over six two-minute rounds.
47-year-old heavyweight Aldo Colliander (16-3) is also back in action. In his last fight, back in 2018, he was stopped by now-famous Albanian and current AJ opponent Kristian Prenga (then 8-1). In Stockholm, he will step into the ring against Finn Reinars Rusins (1-2-2) in a scheduled four-rounder.
To round out the veteran section, 39-year-old Madelene Karlsson will make her pro debut against an opponent to be announced.
In other action, 19-year-old super featherweight prospect Neo Vis Jagemar (4-0, 4 KOs) meets Hungarian Rickard Bernath (2-5), and super middleweight Erick Mendoza (3-0) takes on Estonian Andrei Antonov (6-10-2).
