Las Vegas super bantamweight Angel Barrientes won a unanimous decision over Luis Espinoza of Phoenix. Barrientes boxed his way through eight rounds against the tough Espinoza. All three judges scored the bout 80-72. Barrientes improves his record to 15-1, 9 KOs as Espinoza drops to 10-2, 4 KOs.
Henderson, Nevada’s local Phillip Vela cruised to a unanimous decision win against Puerto Rico’s Edwin Rodriguez. Vela worked a hard six rounds in going the distance against the veteran Rodriguez. All three judges scored the bout 60-54 as Vela stays undefeated as a prospect improving to 6-0, 2 KOs as Rodriguez goes to 12-11-3, 5 KOs.
