Michel Soro Returns Home For A World Title Fight

French middleweight Michel Soro (38-4-2) will take on Tanzanian Hassan “Tornado” Mwakinyo (25-3) June 10 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, where he was born 38 years ago, with the vacant IBO title at stake.
Soro is also a mandatory challenger for the EBU title, currently held by Bilal Jkitou, but that fight is apparently on hold for now. He is 3-0 since coming back 2024 after going 0-2-1 in controversial fashion in WBA title fights at super welterweight 2021-23.
Mwakinyo is 5-0 since losing to Liam Smith in a controversial fashion back in 2022 and has won the WBO Africa title.
As for the Ivory Coast, this is one of the biggest events of the year.
