SES Heavyweight Michel Dobler Fully “On Track” After One Year as a Pro – Mike Lehnis Confirmed as Opponent in German Heavyweight Showdown!

0 3

After more than seven years, SES Boxing is finally staging a major boxing event once again in the city of Halle an der Saale. With the new Sparkassen-Eisdom serving as the venue, this fight night—dubbed “Double Rematch” (featuring two main events that carry particular intensity as return bouts, alongside additional professional and amateur fights held in cooperation with Halle’s Commander Box-Promotion)—will take center stage in the German boxing world and be broadcast live on MDR television.

Halle boasts a long-standing boxing tradition; indeed, the sport of boxing is—quite literally—at home in this city. It therefore provides the ideal platform for these two rematches, which are set to reach their final resolution right here.

SES Promoter Ulf Steinforth: “This new arena—the Sparkassen-Eisdom—is a real discovery: a beautiful venue, and we are now the first to ‘take the stage’ here alongside the Saale Bulls. With our ‘Double Rematch’ theme, excitement and great anticipation are guaranteed. Throughout the great duels of boxing history—both nationally and internationally—rematches have always been particularly explosive and high-caliber affairs. In our two upcoming rematches, clear winners are finally set to be crowned. Shortly after the conclusion of the ‘Reis vs. Tryc’ bout, it became an immediate objective: a rematch had to happen. That was a curious affair; in my view, there was no clear winner, and now we intend to provide that final clarity. With the Junior World Championship bout, we witnessed a magnificent initial duel between two very young boxers. That draw, too, will now find its clear—and truly worthy—winner here in Halle! Our heavyweight, Michel Dobler—a highly touted talent—must now step into the ring against a very skilled southpaw, giving him a unique opportunity to truly prove his mettle. Furthermore, through our undercard program—staged in cooperation with Commander Box Promotion—we aim to demonstrate just how much substance and potential exists within the German boxing scene. I cannot emphasize this enough, and I am looking forward to it immensely: this SES Boxing Gala in Halle is truly ‘stacked’—boxing at its absolute finest!”

Our German heavyweight talent, Michel Dobler—a member of “Team Germany”—is currently right on track with his career plan, having secured five victories (four by knockout) in his first year as a professional; he aims to continue fulfilling this trajectory at the Eisdom in Halle! However, standing across the ring from him will be Mike Lehnis (8-1-0 (5)) from Karlsruhe—a seasoned 37-year-old heavyweight who delivered a remarkable performance in his last bout against the world’s 69th-ranked fighter, the Icelander Kolbeinn Kristinsson (now boasting 13 knockouts in 19 fights), holding his own right up until the seventh round. Furthermore, Mike Lehnis is a southpaw, presenting a unique challenge for Michel Dobler at this very early stage of his heavyweight career!

In November in Chemnitz, following an intense battle against the formidable Polish contender Mateusz Tryc, SES boxer Artur Reis was crowned WBO European Light Heavyweight Champion by a 2-1 split decision! The points verdict proved unsatisfactory for both camps—drawing open and honest criticism—and shortly after the fight concluded, both fighters emphatically declared their readiness and insistence upon an immediate rematch. Now, in Halle, the matter is set to be definitively settled: who is the rightful titleholder—Reis or Tryc? A clear decision must now be reached! Neither fighter has stepped into the ring since that November showdown; with their respective records—Artur Reis (16-1-0 (9)) and Mateusz Tryc (16-3-0 (8))—two boxers with nearly identical career statistics face off once again. Thus, for a multitude of reasons, high-voltage excitement and explosive drama are absolutely guaranteed!

In the second main event as well—following the draw in their initial bout for the WBO Youth World Super-Welterweight Championship held last September in Aschersleben—a new duel, a rematch, has now been scheduled between WBO Youth World Champion Julian Vogel (Aschersleben) and his 22-year-old challenger and WBC Youth World Champion, Sami Ahmeti from Plattling, Bavaria. Since their highly dramatic and thoroughly fair contest—which ended in a “Draw” verdict (two judges scored it 95–95, while one saw the fight 96–94)—both boxers have each competed in an interim bout, emerging victorious in both instances. Julian Vogel (18–0–2 (10)) impressed in Brno, Czech Republic, securing a TKO victory in the first round, while Sami Ahmeti (10–0–1 (5)) defeated his Mexican opponent decisively on points. Thus, another high-caliber and immensely exciting clash is anticipated here between two young, technically gifted German boxing talents. The WBO Youth World Championship belt will now be defended for the fourth time by “Team Germany” boxer Julian Vogel—who, at just 23 years of age, is already a seasoned champion!
