Wilder Edges Chisora In A WAR!

Wilder had success early as he was able to walk Chisora onto several right hands, including a massive uppercut in the second, which had Chisora hurt. Chisora rallied back with his own huge right hand that caught Wilder in the same round. Chisora tried to work the body of Wilder along the ropes, with moderate success.

In the fourth, Chisora threw Wilder to the canvas, drawing cheers from the O2 Arena crowd. A titanic right landed on Wilder and Chisora went in for the finish as Wilder was hurt. In the fifth, Chisora worked Wilder to the corner, with both men tired. Wilder got his second wind in the sixth, his best round to that point, landing several uppercuts, Chisora bleeding from his left eye. A huge right from Wilder lands at the bell.

Chisora took Wilder to the canvas in a tackle in round seven, his legs seemingly gone. After eating a big right hand from Chisora in the first minute of round eight, Wilder dropped Chisora with his own left. A Wilder push caused the ref to take a point from Wilder for the infraction. Somehow, Chisora actually appeared to win the ninth with his work on the ropes.

Wilder started well in the tenth, working Chisora over along the ropes. Later in the round Chisora scored with a big right, a follow-up flurry and a left to the body. In the eleventh, Chisora found himself through the ropes and Wilder went down, but not ruled a knockdown. Both men were exhausted, each landed shots, but not with the same effect. Wilder may have edged the twelfth and final round with his punch election and work rate, though he took his share of shots from Chisora in the round and throughout.

The judges scores were fitting of this back and forth slug fest: 115-112 Chisora, 115-111 and 115-113 both for Wilder by split decision. Wilder vows to continue on, Chisora was non-committal.
