Guy Jutras Passes

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Guy Jutras today, at 95. A native of Montreal, Jutras got his start in the sport as an amateur boxer. He competed in New England, USA, while attending Springfield College.
In 1950, he was the welterweight champion of the four Maritime Provinces of Canada while serving as a seaman in the Royal Canadian Navy.
Jutras was inducted into the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame in 1979 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2019.
He served as co-chairman of Canadian professional boxing officials from 1981 to 2008. He also served as chairman of WBA officials from 1999 to 2008.
An excellent judge and referee, Jutras refereed approximately 194 pro bouts and judged approximately 93. He began refereeing in 1969 and judging in 1980.
