April 10th Reykjavik Show Postponed
By Per-Åke Persson
Professional boxing, after all, is not coming back to Iceland on April 10. Yesterday, the organizers, Nordic Pro Box, postponed the show in Reykjavik until a later date.
The official reason is that heavyweight Kolbeinn Kristinsson (19-0) has sustained a knee injury and is unable to compete. Kristinsson was set to meet Austria’s Sasa Milenkovic (12-1).
Professional boxing is still prohibited in Iceland, but the promoters were confident they could break the ban and go ahead anyway. Now we have to wait a little longer to see if it works.
The show was to have been supervised by the Slovakian Federation, with Norwegian heavyweight Brage Lange (9-0, 9 KOs) in the co-feature.
