Panamanian Champion Nataly Delgado Retains WBA Interim Title In Managua
By Gabriel F. Cordero
Panamanian female boxing star and Panama’s only world champion in the last ten years, Nataly Delgado (20-7-2, 2 KOs), easily defeated Venezuelan challenger Yoselin Fernandez to retain her WBA interim super flyweight world title for the second time at an event held at the Crowne Hotel Convention Center in Managua, Nicaragua.
The 31-year-old Panamanian superstar took control of the fight from the first round with a more technical and precise style, while the experienced challenger Fernandez, also 31, lacked the strategy and boxing skills to diminish Delgado’s superior skill. Delgado ultimately won decisively on the judges’ scorecards with scores of 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91.
