Former EBU welterweight champion Samuel Molina (32-4-1) headlines an event in San Isidro de Níjar, Spain, to honor former Spanish champion Jose Bisbal, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 84.
Molina meets Mexican Enrique Montelongo Morales (18-15-4) in a scheduled eight-rounder contested at super welterweight.
Jose Bisbal fought professionally from 1961 through 1976 and won the national title at both bantamweight and featherweight. In between, his record reads like a who’s who of European boxing at the time, with fights in Brazil, Mexico, and the United States as well.
He fought the likes of Eder Jofre, Ruben Olivares, Bob Allotey and Love Allotey, Jesus Pimentel, Alan Rudkin, and Walter McGowan. He retired in 1971 with a record of 52-36-10.
