Should you have a paper, you may write down a couple of names—Sakai and Kataoka. Ohashi Promotions strongly hoped them to seize world belts within years. Highly expected 19-year-old light fly Raito Kataoka (amateur 57-1, 31 KO/RSCs), 107.75, impressively decked his professional debut as he lopsidedly battered JBC#6 Natsu Ohashi (10-6-1, 7 KOs), 107.75, and finally halted him at 1:15 of the sixth and final session on Tuesday in Tokyo, Japan. Kataoka displayed his remarkable reflexes and showed his fine style of punching without getting hit. The final session saw Raito have him staggering with fast combinations to prompt the referee’s intervention. He looked very promising.
Another best-kept secret JBC#5 southpaw bantam Yuta Sakai (7-0, 6 KOs; amateur 50-2, 7 KO/RSCs), 119, failed to finish his foe for the first time but scored a nearly shutout decision (80-72, 79-73 twice) over durable Filipino GAB#11 Wesley Caga (7-3, 3 KOs), 117.75, over eight. Tall as a bantam, 5’8” Sakai, 20, displayed quick hands and feet in outpunching Caga all the way.
Promoter: Ohashi Promotions.
