Imane Khelif To Turn Pro
Twenty-six-year-old Algerian Imane Khelif will make her professional debut on April 23 at the Salle Wagram in Paris on a show promoted by Brahim Asloum, reports L’Équipe. Khelif will face an opponent to be announced over six two-minute rounds.
Khelif won gold at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris at 66 kg but hasn’t fought since then. There has been a lot of speculation, rumors, and misinformation about whether she is a man or a woman, but she is licensed as a woman by the French Federation, and that should settle the matter for now.
Also on this all-female bill is Estelle Mossely (11-0-1), who won an Olympic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, as well as EBU super welterweight champion Marine Beauchamp (8-2-1).
As for Brahim Asloum, he won a gold medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and later became a world champion in the professional ranks.
