Tapales Near Peak Form Ahead Of April 3 Tokyo Showdown With Oguni
Former unified two-division world champion Marlon Tapales is close to peak condition as he tunes up for his April 3 bout in Tokyo against former IBF super bantamweight world champion Yukinori Oguni. Tapales sparred 10 rounds today (March 17) with Rodex Piala and Reymart Gaballo, marking a key step in his preparation.
Tapales said he feels good after the sparring session, noting that he has 17 more days to reach 100 percent. He emphasized that he has trained very hard for this fight and is not underestimating Oguni, a former world champion, and believes he will be in top shape by April 3.
Sanman Boxing CEO Jim Claude Manangquil commented that Tapales looked good and is ready to fight. He added that the team has arranged strong sparring partners to push him to be at his best.
Marlon Tapales will arrive in Tokyo on March 29, five days ahead of his fight. He will be joined by manager Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Boxing, trainer Jr. Edurot, Ernel Fontanilla, Marvin Catipay, and John Pacquiao.
