Pat Brown Vs Vasil Ducar: Good Friday Or Bad Friday?

0 0

The Good Friday showdown at the Planet Ice Arena will be the second time Cruiserweight sensation Brown has been the Main Event in just his sixth professional fight, after turning over last year.

The former Team GB Olympian has been backed to one day become a World Champion by promoter, Matchroom Sport Chairman, Eddie Hearn, and Brown – who has won all five of his fights by way of knockout and was nominated by The Ring in their star-studded shortlist for Prospect of the Year – is eager to underline in front of his home fans why he is regarded as one of the most destructive talents on the planet.

“It’s back to where it all started for me, so I’m very excited,” said Brown, speaking to Matchroom Boxing.

“I’ve got a lot of people coming to see me and you can guarantee the roof is going to be lifted, like it was on my debut.”

The WBA International Title will be on the line on April 3 in what will be another important hurdle ito clear in Brown’s meteoric rise.

But Brown, 26, insists taking a challenge against Ducar – who has given the likes of Chris Billam-Smith and Chev Clarke tough nights in the past – will not be a jump too soon in his burgeoning career.

“People have said it’s too soon for me to be facing someone like Vasil Ducar. But these are the sort of people who don’t know much about my amateur background and haven’t seen me in sparring,” Brown added.

“From the age of seven, I have lived and breathed this sport. Is it too soon for me? Well, everyone is going to find out on April 3 on Good Friday – but, let me tell you, it will be a bad Friday for him.

“I know sparring is different, but I need rounds and I want rounds. Everyone’s got to get tested. I believe this man will give me that. He might even be saying it’s too soon for me, but he has never been in the ring with someone like me.

Brown believes a win over Ducar will set him up for more big nights ahead – live on the global home of Boxing, DAZN – after Matchroom Boxing’s recent five-year extension with the leading broadcast platform.

“So much has happened in the first year of my career. I never imagined it be the way it has been,” he said.

“All the experiences I’ve had, from travelling to fighting to even doing the media work in between, is all new to me but I’ve enjoyed it. We’re in year two now and I’m sure it’s only going to get even better – let alone the fifth year down the line.
