Californian Anthony Olascuaga (11-1, 9 KOs), 112, scored his fifth defense of his WBO flyweight belt when referee Mark Nelson declared a well-timed stoppage to Japanese loser Jukiya Iimura (9-2, 2 KOs), 111.5, at 1:19 of the ninth round on Sunday in Yokohama, Japan. Their difference of power was obvious thought Iimura made good use of footwork and hand speed. Olascuaga kept aggressive all the way, hurting the challenger from all angles. The seventh saw the champ deck him with a looping left hook following a solid uppercut. Gamely standing up to resume fighting, Jukiya had such a badly swollen forehead that the audience felt it would be over soon. As they expected, Olascuaga, in round nine, accelerated his attack and lifted a solid right uppercut to have him staggering. Ref Nelson waived it off then and there. Iimura showed his heart, while Olascuaga displayed his superior power.

Promoter: Teiken Promotions.
